Texas Wildflowers
2010 has been an incredible year for Texas widlflowers. As a matter of fact, I've never seen as many widlflowers as I've seen this year. Just recently I was asked by the owners of the La Ramirena Ranch, where I photographed for the 2009 Coastal Bend Wildlife Photo Contest, to return to their ranch so that I could photograph wildflowers. That is what I did on April 8th and 9th.
The slideshow below is made up of some of my favorite images from this trip. Except for the first three photos, which were taken along Hwy 281 between Falfurrias and Alice, TX, all the images below were taken either at the La Ramirena Ranch or within a 15 mile radius of it. Most of the photos not taken at La Ramirena were taken along the roadsides but, as you will see, I took some at an old cemetary I came across while exploring some backroads.
